It’s a harbor city facing the Mediterranean Sea. The capital of Catalonia lies to the east of Spain, around Mont Tàber and 150 km from the Pyrenees mountain range. Economically it is the most active city in Spain and after Madrid is the largest in population density. Iberia, as it was referred to Spain in ancient times, was already from 45 BC integrated into the Roman empire, but it was around 15 BC that Barcino, as it was called Barcelona, ​​was founded by the Roman emperor Augustus. - Ramblas: a pedestrian path that stretches between Catalunya square and the harbor, and is followed on its sides by a sequence of narrow streets whose buildings seem to be part of the scene of an Almodovar film. "Las Ramblas" is certainly the most popular tour of the city and undoubtedly a must-see.
- Barcelona's harbor: The landmark of this is a large tower, a monument to Christopher Columbus. From the top of this tower, the tourist has a panoramic view of the city. The harbor area is divided into Porto Velho (Port Vell) where the Maremágnum and the aquarium are located, and Porto Novo (Port Nou), where you can see marinas and countless luxurious boats. In Port Vell, a long pedestrian walkway leads into the sea and takes us to the Maremágnum, a large shopping center in a privileged location with shops, cafes, restaurants, and even a disco. There is also the sensational Barcelona aquarium, ​​one of the largest in Europe.
- Barrio Gótico: The Gothic Quarter was built exactly on what was once the ancient Roman city. Some of its buildings date back to the Middle Ages. The old Roman forum was where Plaça de Sant Jaume is today, and it is in this square where the Saint George's day is celebrated on April 23, a Christian Roman military man who, around 303, was considered a martyr, for not giving up on his beliefs. This is the most celebrated one by the Catalans. It is also in this famous square where are the Catalonia Government headquarters, the "Generalitat de Catalunya". It is also in the Gothic Quarter that there is one of the most visited museums in Barcelona, ​​the Picasso Museum, where you can see his works from different periods.
- Park Guell: At the top of a hill on a stretch of five hectares lies the Guell Park, another work by Gaudí and also a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The area, previously designed to build luxury houses, with panoramic views of Barcelona, ​​belonged to Count Guell. After he passed away, his heirs donated this large area to the municipal government, which transformed it into a park. The use of many mosaics makes Ghell Park a unique place.
- Sagrada Familia: The Sagrada Familia is considered a great catholic temple and is the most visited monument of Spain. It became the most important masterpiece of Gaudí and, even while still under construction, parts of his work were declared by UNESCO as Cultural Heritage of Humanity. Called the Expiatory Temple of the Sagrada Familia, its construction occupies a complete block that can be seen from different parts of the city. Because it is a living work, to visit it is to make part of all its evolution. This is undoubtedly one of the most emblematic works of Gaudí.

Gastronomy
Along Barcelona's public promenade are countless pubs and restaurants and many performers trying to make a living doing street shows. In these pubs, the tourist can stop for a beer, or cava (as it is called to sparkling white wine in Spain) and "tapas", which are nothing more than snacks, fast food to accompany the drink. Tapas can consist of potato tortilla with cheese and onions, chorizo well-seasoned, fried squids "the doré", seafood, potato croquettes, vinaigrette octopus, etc. Tapas, a delight, can replace any meal.
Mercado de La Boquería, the Great Central Market of Barcelona, ​​is worth to be visited.
