Tips

La Rioja is a region full of history. To begin with, it is the cradle of the Castilian language. It was in the Yuso and Suso monasteries, in San Millán de la Cogolla, that the first written record of the Castilian language was found. In this bucolic and peaceful place, a monk turned into letters the language that was spoken among the population. Besides the beautiful monasteries, on top of the mountain, there are medieval towns lost between walls and stories about princes and princesses.

La Rioja has a vineyard landscape framed by monasteries and cities. A snowy mountain, that works as a framework for an old building. A River framed by the green gradient of trees and touched by the bridge.

Must visit & Major attractions:
- Laguardia: A medieval village. It is worth to know and walk through its narrow streets.
- Logroño: It is the capital of the Autonomous Community of La Rioja, known by Calle Laurel, a Tapas Pub street.
- Ezcaray. It is a mountain town that has a nearby Winter Ski Station and it is also known by its Wool Factory.
- Elciego is located in Rioja Alavesa, a wine region within the Basque Country on the border with the region of La Rioja. It won a well-deserved spot on the map thanks to the Masqués de Riscal Winery. In addition to award-winning wines, the winery draws attention for another reason: its hotel, built by the architect Frank Gehry.
- Haro: it is one of the areas with more wineries in La Rioja.
Sajazarra: with a medieval look was elected one of the most beautiful in Spain. The whole city remains like it was 200 years ago, with well-preserved structures.

Gastronomy
La Rioja is the land of flavors and scents. A land that smells like grapes and wine. It smells like maple and oak wood. They are strong smells that permeate the nose and can lead you to earthy flavors. Flavors that come from the countryside and vineyards, surrounded by the typical products of the region.
La Rioja is the place to eat the best asparagus of your life, traditional sausages, and the famous sweet potatoes à La Riojana. All this accompanied by a wine whose origin is one of the best in the world.
A land where gastronomy is made with countryside products and fresh homemade food.
